UPS and Wide UPS Mode Explained: In Inverter/UPS
Every household or office experiences voltage and frequency fluctuation in the house or office. For example, when the Voltage goes down, we can see the fan speed going slow, the light going dim, or the water cooler fan speed going slow, called the Low Voltage condition. The Wide UPS/UPS feature in our battery inverter/UPS plays an important role in bypassing the Mains Voltage and setting the Pure Sinewave Inverter/UPS for running the Computer and IT loads. The user can decide which mode to be selected depending on the Voltage range he wants to choose according to his preference.
Also, there are times when the Voltage goes very high, and we can feel that the fan speed has increased. The bulbs also brighten up, and our sensitive equipment like TVs, fridges, microwaves, computers, printers, and air conditioners start getting problems. We all have experienced this condition when sometimes we get up early morning, and we switch on the bulb, and it goes out, and we realize the bulb got fused because, in the early morning, the Voltage is generally high. After all, the Load on the grid is minimum. Especially the complexes attached to the Diesel Generators as a power backup face significant challenges of High and Low voltage conditions, and they have the primary complaint of appliances getting one or the other problems which require repairs more often.https://www.peelonion.com/2019/08/what-is-difference-between-inverter.html
So we define Voltage into three categories.
- Low voltage condition
- Normal voltage condition
- High voltage condition
It is to be noted that low as well as high voltage conditions can pose a threat to your appliances.
Therefore, our Pure Sinewave Inverter/UPS consists of AVR (automatic voltage regulator) to cope with situations and protect your appliances. Accordingly, whenever the voltage level rises or drops to an undesirable level, the Pure Sinewave inverter/UPS automatically switches off the mains, and connected devices run through the battery to keep them safe for your peace of mind.
So we have two modes in the UPS and Home UPS series:
- Wide UPS Mode In this mode, the Voltage range is very wide say in our Pure Sinewave with ATC model is 90V-280V which varies from model to model because these help the low voltage areas to run the Inverters at low voltages also so that they don’t switch to battery mode and the bypass voltage range is higher for those areas as the low and High voltages are the norms in rural areas and Africa and the Middle East few countries have very high voltage fluctuations. They also have long power cuts, so they don’t want to shift to battery mode even if their power is very low and high, and they want their utility power to be functional. During these low or High Voltages, our Charging continues without any dip in charging current, which helps those areas assess the battery at lower voltages. But once the Voltage goes below 90 Volts, the Inverter/UPS shifts to the battery mode and starts running the appliances on the way even when the Mains power is available. In the same way, if the Mains Voltage is above 280 volts, it cuts off the main power and starts running on the Battery mode to save the appliances from damage. This protection is provided and varies from model to model. Please check the specifications and keep this point in mind before using these settings provided at the back of the UPS/Inverter.
- Normal Voltage Condition: Normal Voltage required to run the appliances is between 180 to 260 Volts, where most of the appliance run smoothly as the fan speed remain stable on this voltage range, and other sensitive appliances also work safely. This can be considered a safe range for any household or office.
- UPS Mode In this mode, the Voltage range is minimal in our models, starting from 180V to 265V, especially in our Pure Sinewave with ATC model. This is the range defined as it helps the computers and other sensitive appliances to keep them safe, and the user feels no switching time if the Voltage goes below 180 volts or Exceeds 265 volts. Then the Inverter/UPS switches to battery mode and saves the appliances, computers, TVs, Printers, etc., working without any break. This is the best safety window for people using computers, TVs or sensitive devices. Switching time/transfer time is less in this mode than in the Wide UPS mode. If we compare the Price of Pure Sinewave UPS or the normal price of UPS, then the Pure Sinewave UPS will cost cheaper as the backup time can be very high in our Pure Sinewave UPS compared to normal UPS for computers which has a built-in battery.
- In our Mobile application, the user can see the voltages and the conditions at which the UPS is shifted on the Low Voltage or High Voltage as it clearly shows the status along with the alerts with audio tones and the Voltage can be seen. A continuous warning is coming on the screen to show the Low and High Voltage voltage. Another essential feature is that in the mobile App settings, one can only
- set the Wide UPS and UPS mode through the phone app rather than looking for the switches in the back for the settings, and it’s very cumbersome. Once the setting is done, on the mobile app, one can see the settings done in the app as in the Voltage window W or N appears, which means the W means wideUPS setting and N means Narrow window settings means UPS mode selected. The mobile application in our Pure Sinewave UPS makes the price of Pure Sinewave UPS compared to the price of a Pure Sinewave UPS computer make it an attractive proposition.https://suvastika.com/hybrid-solar-pcu-solar-monitored-through-the-bluetooth/
- All our other Solar PCU and heavy Duty UPS etc., also have this feature in the mobile app, which clearly shows the voltages and the Wide UPS and UPS settings.
